Kayli's 4 Year Old Picture

We left EARLY this morning to take 4 year old pictures of Kayli. I say we which is really just Hudson and me. He sat in the car while I tried to capture smiles from my oldest child. She is 4 years old now, and recently enrolled in preschool for next fall (if you can believe she is that old already). Well, this picture was actually the first one that I took and it turned out really well. I am super happy with it. It was beautiful today and we could have spent the day out there taking pictures and throwing rocks into the stream but cries from the van brought us back to reality!

Slayden Grandkids

Here is a storyboard of a few of the pictures katie took of the slayden grandkids a few weeks ago. She does such a wonderful job. It was quite difficult keeping everyone smiling and looking in the right direction for all the shots. I am sure she had to move a few heads to get what we wanted. Check out her blog and look at the photos she takes. Thanks Katie!!!

Wrong Mommy Would Be Proud...

Wrong Mommy, you would be sooooooooo proud of your little niece. What did Kayli have for breakfast this morning??? She is proudly displaying a fork full of pancake with peanut butter and syrup. We both had a yummy breakfast today. In honor of you!!!

Pox Boy

Tuesday morning I heard my beautiful son talking to himself in the early morning. Some of you don't think of 7 am as early morning, but I do. I went into his room to say "good morning" and found some suspicious spots on his legs. "What are those?" I said to myself. Well, we had many theories...heat rash, bug bite...Then, Wednesday, those bumps had spread and they were making babies. They were also starting to get bigger and open. Yuck! Ouch! Hudson had something. So, I called the doctor and left some urgent messages with his nurse...we'll call her "nancy". Anyway, she didn't call me back. So, like a good parent I kept him from other little kids so this "thing" wouldn't spread to anyone else. We missed church Wednesday night and decided to leave him with his grandma slayden during mom's club on Thursday morning. I called the doctor back Thursday morning hoping to get him in. My nurse had called in sick and she and the doctor weren't in today. So, I left another urgent message with another doctor's nurse. She finally called me today around 4pm and asked me to bring Hudson in ASAP. Oh, and to use the back door, just in case. We rushed right over and sat for 40 minutes or so (don't look so surprised). Those doctors, really, who do they think they are? Just kidding...I was just glad that someone was going to finally look at my son's legs and tell me what I already knew. Well, we had a diagnosis....chicken pox. Now we really have to keep him away from other kids. It should be better in a week or so. But, for now, I am calling him Pox Boy. He doesn't seem to mind them and doesn't really scratch at them much. You can kinda see them in the picture (double click on the picture and you can scroll down to see him spots if you wish). He wouldn't sit still for me to take a picture because he just learned to crawl yesterday. Also, in the midst of all this, Grandma Slayden and I discovered two new teeth today. Both bottom teeth on eaither side of this other two poked their little heads threw. That makes six...wow. They grow up so fast.

Just a little funny...

A blond woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police officer who was also a blond. The blond cop asked to see the blond driver's license. She dug through her purse and was getting progressively moreagitated."What does it look like?" she finally asked. The policewoman replied, "It's square and it has your picture on it."The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at itand handed it to the policewoman."Here it is," she said. The blond officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying,"Okay, you can go. I didn't realize you were a cop."

back to the tag-team

Geoff finally got home this past Sunday afternoon. He was in Vegas for a medical conference. It felt so strange to have him gone for a week...and very, very good to have him home again. Being a single mommy is no fun. Isn't it cool to be married to someone who misses you when they are gone? He even sent me roses while he was there. I am so thankful to God for this love of my life. He was surprised by the flowers I planted and trimmed bushes that Kayli and I took care of while he was gone. He did ask why I didn't mow the lawn....ha ha...he's soooooooooooooo funny!
So, this week it's back to the same ole thing around here. Geoff and I still have some tough decisions to make these next few months...where to go after residency is over and all. We'll keep you posted of any decisions as they are made. Thanks to those of you who are keeping us in your prayers, we really covet them at this time.
My brother and his wife, Lori, will soon welcome a little one into their home. Their baby is due to be born on May 31st. We are all so excited for the adoption to be finalized. They are still trying to decide on a boys name...what shall they call him? Right now everyone is calling him Thunderclap? They may have to stick with it if they don't agree on one soon.

Comments

Ok, so now you can post a comment even if you are not a blog user. Fell free to leave comments about the cutness of my children anytime!

Hudson discovered nature today. It was so nice outside that we decided to buy some flowers to plant. If you didn't know already, I have no green in my thumbs at all. But, off we went to purchase flowers (what kind?) and beautify our yard. Kayli picked out the flowers by color and I picked the cheapest one...who knows how long they will last...
So, Kayli and I planted flowers in the front yard and around the tree. I just hope I can make them last two days until Geoff gets home. He will be so proud.
I was inspired by the beautiful day to take a few shots of Hudson while Kayli was sleeping. He was such a happy boy...I could have gotten lots and lots of shots of him smiling except the camera died. That's the way it always is, either the camera isn't working while the baby smiles or the camera has new batteries and I can't get the baby to give a grin. Anyway, this shot is cute, it shows off all four teeth!

Shopping

So, if you didn't know already, I love to shop. Thanks to Grandma Slayden for watching Hudson today so Kayli and I could bond. We went to mom's club this morning, just the girls. It was nice to let Kayli play and not have to entertain Hudson, who would have been missing his nap. The moms really enjoy going to Woodland Hills Mall because we usually get to do a little bit of shopping after lunch. Today was no different, except that we were missing our friend Dannielle and her little girl (www.mandiosborn.blogspot.com), Aubrey. What is so funny about our trips to the mall is that usually we bombard The Children's Place after lunch. Sometimes there are up to six of us in there with our big (Annie's double-wide) strollers and 3/4 year olds running around in there. The clerks just seem so frazzled when we walk in. And, in case you've never tried to maneuver a stroller in that store, it's not that stroller friendly. Which, is strange to me because it's a children's clothing store, hello?!

Well, the sale was at New York this time. So, some of us were in there with our children running around. But with more room because New York is stroller friendly. Anyway, thanks to Dannielle we were informed of the sale and made our way there after lunch today. I think that my total qualified me to own stock in their company...ha ha! But it was time to do some shopping for mom this time. I haven't bought clothes since before Hudson was born and that was Spring 05. Thanks to Hudson, my new body just wont fit into those old Spring clothes. Which is sad because I just hate justifying new clothing. The trade off was that if Geoff got to golf while in Nevada (that's for Siddy), I got to shop while he was gone!!

Well, now all is quite as the kiddos drift off into lawlaw land for a few hours...knock on wood. I have to get my Daniel reading in while it's quite. Tootles...

Anniversary Weekend

Our church celebrated our 15th anniversary this weekend. Jon and Kristy and their kids were here for a few days. We had so much fun with them. Kayli and Isak really have a great time together. We also had Shannon and Brian Moore in town. It was like old times having Shannon around this past week. She is nice and prego these days. It was so much fun getting to feel her round belly.

Hudson is our second child. He was named after the famous Baptist missionary Hudson Taylor. Hudson is ALL boy...I noticed the difference in behavior between Kayli and Hudson right away. He is slow to smile these days. He usually gives you a look like "go a head and try to make me smile...I'll do it if I feel like it". He like to roll a ball and puts everything in is little mouth. Kayli and Hudson love to laugh at one another. Kayli is in his face constantly. I love my two little munchkins.

About The Kids

Kayli is my oldest...she was four this past January. She loves to pretend. I know most other four year olds do as well, but she is ALWAYS pretending. The funny thing about her pretending is that she likes to tell everyone else how to pretend with her. She will tell me who I am to be and what I am to say and do. She really likes to have it all her way. She is a stubborn thing but a lot of fun as well. Everyone says that she is a little Noelle and this picture is proof!
